Mindoro State University (MinSU) is set to host the March session of the Too Big To Ignore (TBTI) Philippines 2025 Webinar Series on March 27, 2025 (Thursday), from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM via Zoom. This month’s session will focus on the challenges and opportunities in small-scale fisheries, particularly in marine resource management and livelihood empowerment.

With the theme "In Support of the Subsistence Fishers," the webinar will feature two distinguished speakers. Dr. Katherine P. Sanchez-Escalona, Professor VI and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at MinSU, will present “The Marine Resources of Mansalay Bay and Its Potentials.” Her discussion will highlight the biodiversity of Mansalay Bay and its significance in sustaining local fisherfolk. Meanwhile, Ms. Hope J. Relayson, Training Center Superintendent II and Chief of the Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Division at the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources - CHED MIMAROPA, will deliver a talk on “From Catch to Cash: Empowering Small-Scale Fisherfolk through Cooperatives and Livelihood.” Her session will explore economic opportunities and cooperative-based initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of small-scale fishers.

The webinar is free and open to researchers, students, policymakers, fisherfolk, and anyone interested in marine conservation and livelihood development.
