The cheers were loud and the energy was high as the 20th season of the Calapan City Athletic Association (CCAA) officially opened on September 17, 2025 at the Calapan City Convention Center. With the theme “Legacy in Motion: The Power Returns,” the event marked not only the start of another exciting season but also a celebration of two decades of athletic excellence since 2005.

Organized by the City Youth and Sports Development Department (CYSDD), the grand opening united six colleges of Calapan - Mindoro State University, St. Mark College, Southwestern College of Maritime, Business and Technology, Divine Word College of Calapan, City College of Calapan, and Luna Goco College - all eager to battle it out in various sporting events.

Hon. Arnan C. Panaligan, Representative of the 1st District of Oriental Mindoro; Hon. Antonio “Jojo” S. Perez, Vice Governor; Hon. Rommel Rodolfo “Bim” A. Ignacio, Calapan City Vice Mayor; Dir. Ronald E. Eguiron, SMART II President; and Hon. Salvador “Doy” C. Leachon, City Mayor, together with school heads and officials, graced the event.

Leading the MinSU delegation, University President Dr. Enya Marie D. Apostol stood in full support of the MinSUan athletes as they carried the green-and-gold banner with pride. She was joined by Dr. Franie M. Afable, Campus Executive Director; Ms. Roselie T. Gonzales, Director for Sports; Ms. Emma Vida R. Liwanag, OIC-Dean of the College of Business and Management; Dr. Salcedo R. Tanguid, Jr., Dean of the College of Criminal Justice Education; and the MinSU coaches.

The opening day also brought an early win for MinSU as it clinched the Best Muse and Escort award. Representing the University with elegance and confidence, John Paul M. Binay, Bachelor of Secondary Education, and Maricon P. Panaligan, Bachelor of Science in Criminology, proved that MinSU’s pride shines just as bright off the court as it does on it.

As part of the succession of honor, it was announced that the Mindoro State University will host the 21st season of the CCAA, continuing the legacy of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and community pride in Calapan City.

Now, with the torch lit and the games underway, MinSUans are ready to showcase their strength, skills, and sportsmanship on the playing field. Truly, this season is set to be a thrilling tagislakasan!
