A total of 79 faculty members of Mindoro State University took their oath, marking their reclassification and institutional promotion at MinSU-Calapan City Campus, May 17, 2024. Dr. Christian Anthony C. Agutaya, OIC-University President, administered the oath, extending his heartfelt congratulations for their well-deserved recognition and professional growth.
In his message, Dr. Agutaya emphasized the significance of the faculty's promotion, foreseeing their continued contributions to education and the university's advancement. He underscored that promotion signifies not merely an end but rather, a beginning in service, urging the faculty to channel their efforts towards MinSU’s greater heights and success.
In addition, he highlighted that the transition from promotion to service signifies a commitment not just to personal growth, but to serving a higher purpose.
“It means the coming forth from promotion to service- service to God, service to our community, and service to our country,” stated Dr. Agutaya.
The reclassification and promotion process adhered to the guiding principles outlined in DBM CHED Joint Circular No. 3, series of 2022, ensuring fairness and transparency through a structured point system, cycle evaluation, and merit promotion.
Following the oath-taking, MinSU conducted an orientation and re-orientation program for the reclassified and promoted faculty members on Performance Management and Research Culture Excellence. This aims to further elevate the performance in academic standards and research skills of MinSU faculty.
The session covered topics significant for academic success and advancement. Ms. Joelene C. Leynes, Vice President for Administrative and Finance, shed light on Performance Management, stressing the importance of setting clear objectives and employing effective evaluation methods to boost productivity and accountability among faculty members.
In addition, Mr. Macario B. Masagca, Jr., Director for Research, provided insights into Research Targets and Trends, guiding faculty members on staying abreast of emerging research trends and setting achievable goals to contribute meaningfully to their respective fields.
Meanwhile, Dr. Lourdes V. Icalla, Director for EKTTO emphasized MinSU's commitment to community engagement, dissemination of knowledge and transfer of technologies through extension.
Further, Dr. Katherine P. Sanchez-Escalona, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, shared expertise on How to Identify High Impact Journal Publications, equipping faculty with strategies to enhance the visibility and impact of their research findings.
Administrative matters were also addressed during the program. Ms. Zea Fiel V. Sigue, Administrative Officer V, re-oriented them on the human resource-related concerns including leave privilege and credits, among others. Furthermore, Atty. Sherlyn A. Layesa, Atty IV. discussed the content of the Non-Disclosure Agreement which outlined the obligations of faculty members regarding the confidentiality of sensitive information and promoting ethical conduct while exercising their roles.
The program concluded with an engaging open forum, which served as an avenue for faculty members to voice their inquiries, address their concerns, and foster a collaborative dialogue.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Nemesio H. Davalos, Vice President for Academic Affairs, expressed his satisfaction with the recognition and promotion of the deserving faculty members.
“As head of academic affairs, I am more than happy and satisfied that you are given due recognition and promotion for your well-deserved achievement,” stated Dr. Davalos.
