The spirit of the Mindoro State University (MinSU) community remained undeterred despite the rain as they commemorated the university's 73rd Founding Anniversary themed “Katatagan, Integridad at Kahusayan” on August 27, 2024. The parade marched on through the rain, accompanied by the vibrant brass band music of the MinSU Harmonics.

Led by University President Dr. Enya Marie D. Apostol, the day’s events began with a ceremonial flower offering at the symbolic pyramid, a tribute to the institution's legacy and notable achievements over the past seven decades.

Dr. Jesse T. Zamora, former President and faculty regent, shared a narrative of MinSU’s rich history, highlighting the institution’s journey from its foundation in 1951 to its current status as a leading center of higher education in the province.

University President Dr. Enya Marie D. Apostol delivered an inspiring message during the celebration, emphasizing MinSU’s role as a beacon of knowledge, innovation, and learning. "MinSU has been a catalyst of knowledge, a beacon of innovation, and a foundation of learning. Many of us have roots here, as do our parents and grandparents. MinSU is a part of us, and it will continue to be a part of our lives," Dr. Apostol expressed in her speech.

She emphasized the deep connection between the university and its community, reminding everyone of their shared history and ongoing relationship with MinSU. "Bear in mind that every one of us is a part of MinSU. This university was established for all of us," she added.

Dr. Apostol also encouraged the community to make meaningful contributions that will be remembered for years to come. "Let us all strive to leave a mark that is worth remembering," Dr. Apostol urged.

In her speech, Ms. Joelene C. Leynes, Vice President (VP) for Administration and Finance, emphasized the importance of embracing the core values embedded in the anniversary theme—Resilience, Integrity, and Excellence—as the university strives to achieve its vision of becoming the university of choice. “Nararapat lamang na baunin natin ang mga katangian na nasasaad sa ating tema—Katatagan, Integridad at Kahusayan upang marating natin ang mas mataas na pangarap, ang maging university of choice," she said. She concluded her message by encouraging the community to remember and embody the spirit of "Tatak Mindoro State University," the legacy that has propelled MinSU to its current status as a distinguished institution.

Meanwhile, Dr. Christian Anthony C. Agutaya, VP for Research, Development, and Extension, stressed that the celebration was both a moment to reflect on the past and an opportunity to remember the rich history of the institution. He also urged the audience to honor those who helped shape MinSU into what it is today. “Umaasa ako na tayo ay isa sa pagbaling ng ating mga mata sa hinaharap habang ipinagdiriwang natin ang nakaraan, at isipin ang mga darating na taon. Isipin kung gaano kaliwanag ang hinaharap na iyon ngayon. Isipin ang walang katapusang mga posibilidad ng kung ano ang maaari nating makamit kapag nagtutulungan tayong lahat,” Dr. Agutaya expressed.

Moreover, the message of Dr. Nemesio H. Davalos, VP for Academic Affairs highlighted the university's journey and the challenges that come with growth and progress. "Habang gumagaling tayo ay mas lalong lumalaki at dumadami ang mga challenges na ating kinakaharap," he remarked. Dr. Davalos encouraged everyone to approach these challenges with a sense of dignity and a pursuit of excellence.

The celebration continued with lively performances by a band and fun games, bringing joy and camaraderie to the event.

Furthermore, as part of the anniversary celebration, all faculty and staff wore ASEAN attire to recognize the 57th ASEAN Founding Anniversary, in accordance with Proclamation No. 282 dated July 31, 2017.

MinSU was founded on August 26, 1951, under Republic Act No. 506 as the Mindoro National Agricultural School.
