Mindoro State University (MinSU) celebrated the remarkable achievements of its newly licensed agriculturists who successfully passed the November 2024 Licensure Examination for Agriculturists (LEA) during a recognition ceremony held at the University Auditorium, MinSU Main Campus, Alcate, Victoria, Oriental Mindoro, November 27, 2024.

Organized by the College of Agriculture and Allied Fields (CAAF), MinSU honored the 74 graduates who successfully passed the LEA held on November 12, 13, and 14, 2024. MinSU achieved its highest overall passing rate of 74%, significantly surpassing the national passing rate of 50.78%.

University officials, faculty members, proud family members, and friends gathered to celebrate this milestone in the lives of the successful examinees.

In her opening remarks, CAAF Dean Dr. Nora Cabaral-Lasaca lauded the passers for their hard hardwork, determination, and commitment to pass the exam.

“Be proud you are an agriculturist, an agent who contributes to the agriculture and economic sectors,” Dr. Lasaca stated. She also emphasized the significant role they will play in addressing agricultural challenges and advancing food security and sustainability in the country.

“Remember that your journey does not end here because you now hold the responsibility of shaping the future of agriculture, one that is sustainable, innovative and inclusive,” she added.

Among the honorees was Mr. Dennis Galindez, 50, a 1998 graduate of the then Mindoro State College of Agriculture and Technology (now MinSU). He was the oldest among the MinSU passers and achieved his license on his second attempt.

Despite his 21 years of government service with the Department of Agriculture, Mr. Galindez remained determined to earn his license. “Even though I have been in government service for so long, I always felt incomplete as an agriculture graduate without passing the LEA. That motivated me,” he shared.

He encouraged other agriculture graduates, especially those hesitant or struggling to pass the exam. “If your heart is truly in agriculture and you want to help the agricultural sector in our country, give it a try. To those who have not yet taken or passed the exam, don’t be afraid or give up. Hard work, perseverance, and prayer were my keys to success.”

To conclude the event, the awardees were presented with certificates of recognition. The atmosphere was filled with pride and joy as the audience applauded the new agriculturists who will undoubtedly contribute to the development of sustainable and innovative agricultural practices.
