Sen. Imee Marcos Visits MinSU; Leads Distribution of Cash Aid Assistance to 1,000 MinSU Students
Senator Imee Marcos visited the Mindoro State University (MinSU) to lead the distribution of financial assistance through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) under the Educational Assistance program, April 21, 2024.
Sen. Marcos accompanied by Gov. Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor was welcomed by university officials led by OIC President Dr. Christian Anthony C. Agutaya, university directors, campus officials, and students.
In his welcome message, Dr. Agutaya expressed his gratitude for Sen. Marcos' support, emphasizing the invaluable assistance provided to MinSU students for their daily needs.
"Hindi matatawaran ang tulong ng ating butihing Senadora Imee na makatulong sa mga mag-aaral ng
MinSU sa kanilang pang-araw-araw na pangangailangan," he said.
Alongside expressing gratitude to Senator Marcos, Dr. Agutaya also appreciated Governor Dolor for making policies and projects to support quality education in the province.
“Mapalad din po tayo sa patuloy na suporta ng ating gobernador at MinSU Board of Regents member Governor Bonz Dolor sa mga polisiya at proyekto sa dekalidad na edukasyon para sa lahat,” Dr. Agutaya expressed.
Meanwhile, Sen. Marcos commended MinSU as a university that has emerged from humble beginnings yet consistently distinguishes itself through the quality of education it offers and the achievements of its top-notch students.
"Puro top notcher ang munting eskwelahan na lumaki at gumaling," Sen. Marcos remarked.
Highlighting the financial challenges Filipino families face, Sen. Marcos also acknowledged that even though education in the Philippines is free from elementary to college, there are still financial burdens families bear, especially in the last two months before college graduation. That’s why the DSWD has AICS Program to extend financial assistance to families and students in need. Similarly, she emphasized the significance of education as the pathway to a better future wherein completing education is the common aspiration of every Filipino.
“Yan lang naman ang pangarap ng bawat Pilipino, ang makapagtapos, makahanap ng trabaho at makatulong sa pamilya,” she stated.
Senator Marcos expressed her hope that the P5,000.00 assistance provided to 1,000 students would alleviate their financial burden, enabling them to pursue their aspirations and fulfill their dreams.
The DSWD-AICS Educational Assistance Program offers cash aid to eligible students and individuals experiencing financial hardship.
