Five hundred (500) of 1,000 assessed and eligible students in Mindoro State University started receiving financial assistance amounting to PhP 5,000.00 through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) under the Educational Assistance program, April 21, 2024.

Senator Imee Marcos together with Gov. Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor led the distribution of the cash aid to beneficiaries at the MinSU Gymnasium, MinSU-Calapan Campus, Masipit, Calapan City.

One of its beneficiaries is Diane Claire B. Cabral, a graduating student of BS Tourism at MinSU-Calapan Campus. According to her, the PhP 5,000.00 assistance she received is a big help, especially now that she is about to graduate. Additionally, she plans to allocate a portion of it for her father's medical check-up and maintenance medicine.

Similarly, Kristine S. Acedera, a 4th-year Psychology student, expressed her surprise and appreciation at receiving such aid in Mindoro, particularly at MinSU. She intends to use it to cover additional expenses for her studies, especially now that she is graduating and currently undergoing on-the-job training.

Apart from students, the parents of the DSWD-AICS beneficiaries also attended the event. One of them was Mrs. Estrella B. Cantos, parent of a 4th year student at MinSU-Calapan taking Bachelor of Secondary Education. She expressed her gratitude for her daughter, being included among the recipients of the PhP 5,000.00, especially since her daughter is currently a student teacher and will be conducting a demonstration the following week.

"Napakalaking tulong nito sa amin, lalo na at graduating student ang aking anak. Kahit na free ang tuition fee, marami pa ring mga bayarin at pangangailangan sa school na kailangang bayaran. Ngayon, hindi na kami mag-iisip pa ng kanyang pang-araw-araw na gastusin at mga gagamitin sa kayang demonstration bilang student teacher, " Mrs. Cantos said.

The remaining 500 MinSU DSWD-AICS beneficiaries will be scheduled for cash payout soon.

The DSWD-AICS AICS Educational Assistance Program under DSWD offers cash aid to qualified students and individuals who are in tight financial struggle.
