Project MOSES Wins Best R&D Project at 2025 DOST-MIMAROPA S&T Week

Project MOSES (Monitoring and Observation of Site-specific E-weather Station), a flagship research initiative of Mindoro State University (MinSU), was awarded Best Research and Development Project in the Agriculture and Environment Category during the 2025 DOST-MIMAROPA Regional Science and Technology Week held on May 28, 2025, at Occidental Mindoro State College, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

Providing timely, localized, and accurate weather data that strengthens disaster preparedness in flood-prone communities, Project MOSES (Monitoring and Observation of Site-specific E-weather Station) of Mindoro State University (MinSU) continues to make a meaningful impact in Oriental Mindoro. Consistently recognized for its relevance and innovation, the project was recently awarded Best Research and Development Project in the Agriculture and Environment Category during the 2025 DOST-MIMAROPA Regional Science and Technology Week, held on May 28, 2025, at Occidental Mindoro State College, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

The award was received by Engr. Christian B. Hernandez, Project Leader and faculty researcher of MinSU, in recognition of the project’s outstanding contribution to environmental monitoring and disaster risk reduction through science and technology.

Funded by the Department of Science and Technology - MIMAROPA (DOST-MIMAROPA) and implemented in partnership with DOST Oriental Mindoro, Project MOSES, the system uses Internet of Things (IoT) technology to collect and transmit data within a 9 to 25-kilometer radius, supporting the Provincial and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (P/MDRRMOs) in issuing timely warnings and responses to natural hazards such as floods.

The project stands as a flagship initiative of MinSU’s commitment to responsive research and innovation that directly benefits communities and supports sustainable development in the region.
