The Philippines continues to tap and connect with other countries to strengthen and broaden our academic horizons
Admin    Sep. 09, 2025

The Philippines continues to widen its global educational reach as President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. secured a strengthened partnership with the Kingdom of Cambodia through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Higher Education Cooperation during his state visit in Phnom Penh on September 8, 2025.

The agreement was formalized by Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis and Cambodian Minister of Education, Youth, and Sport Dr. Hang Chuon Naron. The signing was witnessed by President Marcos Jr. and Prime Minister Hun Manet at the Peace Palace, marking a milestone in international academic collaboration.

The MOU opens new avenues for student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects, academic information-sharing, credit transfer systems, and cooperation in hosting international academic events such as conferences, workshops, and training courses. These initiatives aim to elevate the quality of higher education in both countries while deepening bilateral ties.

In a Facebook post, CHED Chairperson Agrupis said the partnership is a reminder that education is an investment not just in people but also in the shared future of both nations.

โ€œIt underscores the commitment of both nations to expand educational opportunities, foster academic excellence, and strengthen people-to-people ties, solidifying the Philippines and Cambodiaโ€™s role as partners in advancing inclusive growth, innovation, and sustainable development in the region,โ€ Chairperson Agrupis said.

Mindoro State University (MinSU) fully supports this initiative of President Marcos Jr. through the leadership of CHED Chairperson Dr. Agrupis. The University recognizes the value of global linkages in enriching academic programs and expanding research opportunities for its community.

Likewise, here at MinSU, we continue to foster international partnerships with various countries to broaden our academic spectrum and provide every MinSUan with opportunities to grow in their chosen fields. Together, we are one in pursuing a more holistic learning system that is globally recognized and supported.
