In a time when emergencies and natural calamities are becoming more frequent and unpredictable, Mindoro State University (MinSU) continues to strengthen its commitment to safety and preparedness. Earlier today, October 13, the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) of MinSU Main Campus spearheaded a First Aid Training at the Agri-Eco Building, Main Campus, Alcate, Victoria.

The activity gathered faculty members, staff, and students who took part in the hands-on training designed to equip them with essential life-saving skills and enhance their ability to respond swiftly and effectively during medical emergencies.

Ms. Nilda P. De Guzman, RN and Ms. Genalyn R. Dangiw, RN from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Naujan served as the resource experts and facilitated the session, guiding participants through standard first aid procedures and real-life response simulations.

According to MinSU DRRMO, the training addresses a vital need on campus as students are often called upon to assist during events and university activities. With proper training, MinSU personnel and student volunteers will now serve as reliable first-aid responders, capable of providing immediate aid and monitoring when emergencies arise.

“This initiative not only reinforces the University’s emergency preparedness but also builds our students’ confidence to serve and act in times of need,” said Mr. Melvin Aguba, MinSU Main Campus DRRMO Coordinator.

The event was organized in collaboration with MDRRMO Naujan. Similar training sessions are set to be conducted at MinSU Bongabong Campus on October 20, while the schedule for MinSU Calapan City Campus will be announced soon.
