In response to the widespread devastation caused by Typhoon Tino across the Visayas and nearby regions, Mindoro State University (MinSU) has launched Project C.I.T.E. (Compassion In Times of Emergency) on November 6, 2025. This special initiative, spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President for Research, Innovation, Technology, and Extension (RITE), turns this year’s Christmas celebration into a collective effort of giving, solidarity, and hope.
Project C.I.T.E. embodies the Filipino values of malasakit (concern), bayanihan (communal unity), and pakikipagkapwa-tao (shared humanity), calling on faculty, staff, students, alumni, partners, and the wider community to come together to support those affected by the calamity. The initiative highlights MinSU’s commitment to serving society beyond academics, emphasizing empathy, service, and meaningful action.
At the heart of the project is a simple yet powerful message: “Cite with heart – every citation, an act of compassion.” Through this campaign, participants can contribute to building hope and restoring dreams for Typhoon Tino victims.
Project C.I.T.E. offers multiple ways for the community and the public to get involved:
For those who are willing to help and donate, donations can be sent through the official GCash accounts of each MinSU campus:
· MinSU – Calapan City Campus: Ma. Christine Mae C. Culis | 0938-423-7385
· MinSU – Bongabong Campus: John Neil L. | 0915-668-1369
· MinSU – Main Campus: Van Nessa M. | 0936-911-1138
All proceeds from Project C.I.T.E. will be handed over to verified humanitarian partners actively supporting typhoon-hit communities, ensuring that every contribution directly aids relief and rehabilitation efforts. This will be transparently monitored and reported, ensuring that every donation reaches the intended beneficiaries.
Through activities such as the Citation Challenge, Community Tree of Hope, and Wall of Compassion, MinSU invites everyone to participate in a collective journey of giving. The University emphasizes that compassion transcends boundaries, and together, communities can share love, rebuild hope, and demonstrate that even in adversity, the human spirit shines brightest.
