Mindoro State University (MinSU), in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (Commission on Higher Education (CHED)), held an orientation on the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) today, April 20, at MinSU Calapan City Campus, signaling steps toward broadening flexible learning opportunities for non-traditional students.

The orientation brought together deans, program chairs, and officials from MinSU’s Flexible and Distance Learning unit as the university assessed how the program can be implemented to better serve working professionals and individuals seeking to complete their college degrees.

Ms. Jenalyn L. Baliong, Project Technical Staff, opened the session with a discussion on ETEEAP as part of lifelong learning. She presented its background, qualifications for applicants, and documentary requirements under the equivalency system.

This was followed by a technical briefing from Merigen S. Cafino, Supervising Education Program Specialist, who discussed eligibility requirements, deputization procedures for higher education institutions, evaluation areas, institutional requirements, and the assessment process.

University officials participated in an open forum where concerns and questions on implementation were raised. The College of Computer Studies (CCS) and the College of Business and Management (CBM) were identified as potential lead units should the program be formally offered by MinSU.

In her closing remarks, Dr. Lea Miciano, Director for Flexible and Distance Learning, urged the university to move forward with planning and preparation, emphasizing the program’s potential to provide opportunities for individuals who have long been in the workforce but have not yet completed their degrees.

ETEEAP is a national program that allows qualified individuals with relevant work experience and competencies to earn academic degrees through a system of equivalency and accreditation.
