For the second consecutive year, Mindoro State University (MinSU) has once again earned global recognition after climbing to Rank 274 in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2026, a 54 place-leap from Rank 328 in 2025.
The latest WURI results, officially released today, May 7, underscore MinSU’s continuing rise in the global academic landscape and reaffirm the University’s sustained commitment to innovation-driven education, research, and institutional development.
Following its debut and recognition in the WURI rankings last year, MinSU further elevated its international standing in 2026 through stronger performances in several specialized categories, particularly those focused on interdisciplinary research, industrial relevance, entrepreneurship, and student-centered initiatives.
Among its most notable achievements, MinSU ranked among the Top 100 innovative universities worldwide in the following categories:
These recognitions reflect MinSU’s expanding role not only as an academic institution, but also as a proactive contributor to applied research, innovation ecosystems, entrepreneurial development, and adaptive governance in higher education.
Dr. Enya Marie D. Apostol, University President, attributed the milestone to strengthened research initiatives and enhanced industry partnerships.
"This is the result of the collective efforts of our faculty and staff, researchers, students, partners and stakeholders working toward a shared vision of global competitiveness," Pres. Apostol said. “Additionally, this achievement reflects the University’s continuing commitment to excellence, innovation, and relevance in addressing the evolving needs of society and industry,” Pres. Apostol added.
Unlike traditional ranking systems that primarily measure research citations and faculty-to-student ratios, the WURI ranking framework evaluates universities based on their real-world impact, emphasizing innovativeness, implementability, and societal contribution.
MinSU’s improved performance in the 2026 rankings marks another significant step toward its long-term goal of becoming a leading innovation hub in the region and beyond, particularly in advancing research and programs that address contemporary societal and industrial challenges.
With its continued upward trajectory for the second straight year, MinSU reaffirms its commitment to producing future-ready graduates and strengthening its contribution to global innovation and sustainable development. (jdtdc)
