A significant step toward sustainable and resilient agriculture was taken as Mindoro State University officially presented Project S.A.G.I.P. (Survival Agriculture through Green Innovative Practices) to the Local Government Unit of Municipality of Victoria on May 7.
The initiative was presented by Dr. Enya Marie D. Apostol, University President as part of the University’s continuing commitment to empower families and communities through sustainable, scalable, and crisis-responsive food production solutions.
Project S.A.G.I.P. seeks to advance survival agriculture through green innovative practices that can help address food security challenges while strengthening community resilience during times of crisis. The project also highlights the importance of environmentally responsible farming methods that can be adapted at the community level.
The MinSU delegation was warmly welcomed by the LGU of Victoria headed by Hon. Richard V. Inciong, Municipal Mayor. In support of the initiative, the local government formally adopted Project S.A.G.I.P. and expressed its anticipation for the project’s official launching in the municipality.
Also present during the meeting were faculty members of Institute of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering led by Engr. Jerrel S. Reyes, who provided technical support and implementation insights for the proposed rollout of the project.
Through the collaboration between the academe and the local government, Project S.A.G.I.P. is expected to serve a meaningful initiative that promotes food sustainability, environmental responsibility, and community empowerment among residents of Victoria. (marm)
