Mindoro State University (MinSU) Calapan City Campus culminated its celebration of its 65th Founding Anniversary with an elegant Gala Night held on June 19, 2026 at the MinSU Calapan City Activity Center, bringing together faculty members, non-teaching personnel, university officials, and distinguished guests in an evening of recognition, gratitude, and celebration.

The event was graced by Dr. Enya Marie D. Apostol, University President and  Prof. Edna Imelda F. Legazpi, Regional Director of Commission on Higher Education (CHED) MIMAROPA who joined the MinSU community in commemorating more than six decades of academic excellence, institutional growth, and dedicated public service.

One of the most anticipated highlights of the evening was the recognition and awarding of employees whose commitment, exceptional performance, and invaluable contributions have significantly shaped the development of MinSU Calapan City Campus through the years. The awards served as a tribute to individuals whose dedication has gone beyond the call of duty in advancing the University's mission of providing quality education and responsive public service.

Among the awardees was former College Administrator Emelito S. Matunan, who received the prestigious Institutional Memory Award in recognition of his enduring contributions and leadership during his tenure. The award acknowledged his role in preserving the institution's legacy and helping guide the campus through significant milestones in its history.

The recognition ceremony underscored the University's appreciation for the people whose hard work and unwavering commitment continue to strengthen the institution. More than celebrating achievements, the awards reflected the collective efforts of the MinSU community in building a culture of excellence, service, and integrity.

Adding elegance and cultural charm to the evening was the presentation of the Rigodon de Honor, a traditional formal dance that showcased grace, unity, and camaraderie among the participants. Notably, Pres. Apostol and Dir. Legazpi joined the performance, drawing admiration from attendees and further highlighting the spirit of fellowship that defined the celebration.

As MinSU Calapan City Campus marks its 65th year of service and educational leadership, the Gala Night served not only as a celebration of the institution's rich history but also as a reaffirmation of its commitment to honor the people whose dedication continues to shape its future.(marm)
