Affirming its commitment to fostering an inclusive and discrimination-free academic community, Mindoro State University highlighted the significance of Pride Month through a special episode of MinSU TV Campus Connect on June 30, 2026, promoting respect, diversity, and equal opportunities for all members of the University community.

Hosted by Maricar Jose, the episode featured Mr. Domenick Mortella, Deputy Director of the Women, Gender and Development (WGD) Office of the Victoria Campus, who emphasized that Pride Month is more than a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ communityโ€”it is a continuing call to uphold human dignity, equality, and inclusion.

During the discussion, Mortella explained that Pride Month commemorates the continuing journey of LGBTQIA+ individuals toward acceptance and equal rights while recognizing the challenges they continue to face. He underscored that every individual deserves to be treated with respect regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.

He also highlighted the vital role of educational institutions in cultivating environments where diversity is embraced and every learner and employee feels safe, valued, and empowered to contribute.

"Kapag alam ng isang tao na tanggap siya sa komunidad, mas nagiging kumpiyansa siyang ibahagi ang kaniyang talento, kakayahan, at mga ideya," Mortella shared during the program, emphasizing that a culture of acceptance enables individuals to reach their full potential.

The episode likewise showcased MinSU's simultaneous Pride Month celebration across its Victoria, Calapan City, and Bongabong campuses under the theme "Breaking the Silence: Focusing on Creating Inclusive Campuses Free from Discrimination." The observance reflects the University's continuing efforts to integrate gender sensitivity, inclusivity, and respect for diversity into campus life.

Drawing from his own experiences as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Mortella encouraged students and employees who may still be struggling with self-acceptance to embrace their authentic selves and recognize their worth.

He reminded viewers that identity should never become a barrier to achieving academic excellence, professional growth, or meaningful service, emphasizing that every individual has the potential to contribute positively to society.

Through the episode, MinSU reinforced that promoting inclusivity extends beyond institutional policies and campus activities. By creating spaces for open dialogue through its official webcast, the University continues to educate its stakeholders, challenge stereotypes, and strengthen a culture of empathy, respect, and belonging.

As the University's official communication platform, MinSU TV Campus Connect continues to translate institutional values into meaningful conversations, supporting MinSU's mission of developing not only competent graduates but also socially responsible citizens who uphold equality, compassion, and respect for diversity.
