MinSU opens new ITSO office, presents accomplishments of DOST-funded projects

The Mindoro State University (MinSU) formally opened its new Intellectual Property and Technology Support Office (ITSO) and presented the accomplishments of its Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-funded projects during an activity held on July 17 at the ASTEER Building, MinSU Victoria Campus, Alcate, Victoria, Oriental Mindoro.

Mindoro State University (MinSU) opened its new Intellectual Property and Technology Support Office (ITSO) on July 17, marking another step in its efforts to strengthen research, innovation and technology development.

The new office was inaugurated during an activity at the ASTEER Building of the MinSU Victoria Campus in Alcate, Victoria, Oriental Mindoro, which also featured the presentation of accomplishments of the University’s DOST-funded projects.

Mr. Jesse M. Pine, Provincial Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in Oriental Mindoro, graced the event on behalf of Dr. Bernardo Sepeda, Regional Director of DOST MIMAROPA.

Pine joined MinSU officials led by Mr. Leonel C. Mendoza, OIC-Vice President for Research, Innovation, Technology and Extension and Dr. Alice R. Ramos, OIC to the VP for Academic and Student Affairs, researchers and project proponents in the ceremonial ribbon-cutting for the new ITSO office, which is expected to provide stronger institutional support for the protection, management and potential commercialization of intellectual property generated through the University’s research and innovation initiatives.

Engr. Fernando A. Paralejas Jr., MinSU ITSO Manager led the guests on a tour of the new office following the ceremony.

The activity also provided a venue for project proponents to present the accomplishments of DOST-funded initiatives implemented by the University. The presentations highlighted project milestones, outputs and contributions to research, technology development and community-based innovation.

An open forum followed, allowing participants to discuss project implementation, accomplishments, challenges and possible directions for sustaining and expanding the initiatives.

The opening of the ITSO office and the presentation of project accomplishments reflected the continuing partnership between MinSU and DOST in promoting science, technology and innovation in Oriental Mindoro and the wider MIMAROPA region.

The initiative also supports MinSU’s continuing efforts to build an innovation ecosystem that enables research outputs and intellectual property to move beyond the laboratory and contribute to communities and national development. (jdtdc)
