A newly established chapel at Mindoro State University is offering members of its community a quiet space for prayer and reflection, regardless of faith tradition.
The Dambana, also known as St. Peter the Apostle Chapel, was formally opened on July 17 following a Eucharistic Celebration held as part of PAGTANAW 2026: State of the University Address.
The Eucharistic Celebration at the University Auditorium brought together members of the Board of Regents, university officials, faculty members, employees, students, alumni and other stakeholders in thanksgiving for the University's continued growth and shared mission.
Most Rev. Moises M. Cuevas, D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Calapan, presided over the Holy Mass and later officiated the blessing of the chapel. Following the Eucharistic Celebration, Bishop Cuevas, together with Dr. Enya Marie D. Apostol, University President, key university officials and members of the Board of Regents, led the ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the chapel's formal opening.
The Dambana is intended to provide members of the MinSU community with a dedicated place to pause, pray and reflect amid the demands of academic and professional life. While rooted in the University's Catholic tradition, the facility is open to members of the MinSU community regardless of faith tradition and serves as a space for prayer, reflection and quiet contemplation.
The chapel's inauguration was among the initiatives highlighting the University's continuing efforts to promote the holistic development and well-being of its community.
It is also a reminder that in the pursuit of institutional growth, there must also be spaces where members of the university community can find stillness, comfort and connection.
