More than 7,200 students returned to Mindoro State University (MinSU) on Monday, July 27, as classes officially opened for the first semester of Academic Year 2026–2027 across the university’s Victoria (Main), Calapan City, and Bongabong campuses.
Students began arriving early at the three campuses, where classrooms, laboratories, libraries, and student service offices resumed full operations following weeks of enrollment, orientation, and preparatory activities.
The opening of classes was marked by a festive welcome led by university officials, faculty members, student leaders, and support personnel, who greeted freshmen, returnees, transferees, and continuing students with campus activities, musical performances, and student engagement programs.
At the Victoria (Main) Campus, the University Student Government organized a series of welcome activities for incoming freshmen, while a similar reception was held at the Calapan City Campus to help new students transition into university life.
At the Bongabong Campus, Dr. Enya Marie D. Apostol, University President, personally welcomed students and led the general orientation for freshmen, transferees, and returnees, introducing them to the university’s academic policies, student services, and campus community.
Junior and senior students also conducted campus tours to familiarize new students with university facilities and support offices.
In addition to the welcome activities, Project HAPAG, a community-driven food assistance initiative introduced by Dr. Apostol, was simultaneously implemented across MinSU’s three campuses. The program, supported through voluntary contributions from the university administration, faculty, staff, and students, provided meals and refreshments for MinSU students as part of the university’s continuing culture of service and shared responsibility.
Dr. Apostol welcomed the MinSU community and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to accessible and quality higher education, student-centered services, and academic excellence across all campuses.
The simultaneous return of thousands of students reflected renewed academic momentum across the university and highlighted MinSU’s continuing efforts to strengthen teaching, learning, and student support under its development agenda.
University officials said enrollment-related assistance, academic advising, and student support services will continue throughout the opening weeks of the semester to help ensure a smooth and productive start for students across the three campuses. (jdtdc)
