BS Tourism Management students of MinSU-Victoria (Main) Campus brought their ideas to life through a showcase of creative products and interactive experiences during NEXUS (Networking, Exposition for eXcellence, and Universal Solutions) 2026 on November 4 at the Tourism Building, Victoria (Main) Campus.
Anchored on the theme, “Re-igniting Innovation through Smart Environmental-Tech,” the students set up booths featuring a variety of products and activities, from flavorful food creations to interactive games, giving visitors a glimpse of their creativity, resourcefulness, and entrepreneurial skills.
Serving as guest speaker, Ms. Ely Rose Apple T. Almarez, owner of Apple’s Merchandise and Apple’s Cafe Victoria, shared her experience in building a business and encouraged students to take the first step toward their entrepreneurial goals. She acknowledged that starting a business can be challenging, but emphasized that having the right skills, resources, and determination can help turn even modest beginnings into meaningful opportunities.
“Hindi nakakahiyang magsimula ng maliit na negosyo, at hindi nakakahiyang magtinda. At lalong hindi nakakahiya ang magsimula sa wala. You don’t need millions to start something meaningful,” she said.
NEXUS 2026: R.I.S.E Tourism Industry is a collaborative event of the BS Tourism Management students, merged with the Tourism and Hospitality Exposition 2026, showcasing their creativity, innovative ideas and skills in events management.
Meanwhile, Ms. Mary Antonette H. Dudas, NEXUS adviser and faculty member of the College of Business and Management, congratulated the students for successfully organizing and managing the event despite the challenges they encountered along the way.
Their activity also serves as practical experience in organizing and managing events, preparing them for opportunities in the MICE industry (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions), where event planning and management are essential skills. (kpic)
