Showcasing a vibrant array of talents and a shared passion for arts and culture, students from the three campuses of Mindoro State University (MinSU) gathered together for the much-anticipated annual Intercampus Culture and Arts Festival. Themed “Buklod Sining: Tayo na sa Timog Katagalugan. Kultura at Sining ay Isulong,” the festival was held at the MinSU Main Campus, October 29, 2024.
The event featured a variety of contests, showcasing the diverse talents of MinSU students. Participants competed in various contests including on-the-spot poster making, pencil drawing, charcoal rendering, painting, and photography. The festival also highlighted performances, including instrumental solos featuring violin, classical guitar, and banduria, as well as vocal solos (both kundiman and pop), vocal duets, live band performances, contemporary and folk dances, street dance, short plays, and the highly coveted Festival King and Queen titles.
In her inspiring opening remarks, Dr. Enya Marie D. Apostol, University President, emphasized the importance of heartfelt expression in each performance. “Culture is in the heart. If you love your performance and embody the culture that goes with it, it will show in your face,” she stated. Dr. Apostol also encouraged participants to pour their passion out into their performances, reminding them that the essence of competition lies not solely in winning or losing. “Sa competition laging may umuuuwing victorious, may umuuuwing luhaan, pero sa competition na ito, walang talo kasi you perform,” she expressed, highlighting that every participant contributes to the vibrant representation of MinSU.
The festival culminated in the announcement of winners across various contests, as follows:
Winners in the CAF contests will represent MinSU at the upcoming Southern Tagalog Regional Association of State Universities and Colleges (STRASUC) Culture and Arts Festival this November 2024.
