The championship tradition in the PSABE-PPG Annual Luzon Wide Convention continues as the MinSU Institute of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (IABE) harvested their tenth overall championship title in the 26th edition of the event held at Tarlac Agricultural University

The championship tradition in the PSABE-PPG Annual Luzon Wide Convention continues as the MinSU Institute of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (IABE) harvested their tenth overall championship title in the 26th edition of the event held at Tarlac Agricultural University, February 7-9, 2024.

Themed โ€œSustainable Innovations in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering: A Greener Future for a Food Secured Philippinesโ€, the yearly gathering of Bayaws opened several individual and group contests wherein 24 Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering students from the university took their participation.

R-J Efogon, in the male category of the Knapsack Sprayer Assemble and Disassemble Competition, won first place while his counterpart Ma. Viva Criselda Lineses also bagged the same award in the female category. Diana Esguerra and Jamie Atienza also contributed to the overall success of the delegation as they were both hailed second placers in the Tractor Driving and Bilao Painting respectively. A third-place finish was also added to the feathers in the hat of the Mindoro delegation by Jessica Bolaรฑos in the Rice Combine Harvester Parts Identification.

Meanwhile, in the group contests, Jerald Alfante, Mark Glenn Florendo, Jansen Arvel Contreras, Liah Frances Ligasca, and Marco Vincent Gatarin ran fast to secure first place in the pABElisan Contest while the trio of Elmer Populi, John Bryan Lago, and Manny De Austria took home the second place in the Agricultural Structure Scale Modelling Contest. Fourth-year students Lanz Louie Daniel Alamo, Raymart Aรฑar and Rocel King James D. Labaguis also showcased their agricultural prowess making them seal the second place in the pABEdahan Quiz Bee.

Not only in the battle of agricultural talents and intelligence the MinSU bayaws did excel but also in the stage of beauty and wit. This was proven by Riochel Bantatua and Ellaine Joy De Leon who represented the MinSU Chapter in the Mr. and Ms. PSABE PPG pageant. Bantatua, who also earned second place in the Tractor Hitching, was crowned as Mr. PSABE PPG 2024 while the beauty of De Leon captured the fourth runner-up title.

Joy Alamon and Trisha Joy Faina also represented MinSU in the Poster Exhibit and Audio Visual Presentation respectively while Alamo competed too in the Undergraduate Research Presentation. The overall champion team underwent the mentorship of Engr. Christian Hernandez, Engr. Randy Joco, and Engr. Didrey Dawis who aim to extend the winning culture of the institution in the annual convention which they successfully achieved.

The MinSU Chapter, who also received the Best in Chapter Uniform award, edged out other 12 participating State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) from the Luzon island in the race to the overall championship title making their way on the top after three days of the competition.

The Isabela State University then succeeded in the overall championship fight while the Romblon State University settled in the third place.

With its Luzon supremacy for over a decade (2013-2014, 2016-2019, 2021-2024), the Mindoro State University proved that it offers an ABE program that is one of the bests in the country.

More importantly, MinSU-IABE certifies its commitment in promoting agricultural excellence and food sustainability through its competent students who are armed with knowledge and skills deemed essential in the field of agricultural and biosystems engineering.
