The Mindoro State University (MinSU) kicked off the celebration of the 2024 National Women's Month with a parade and a short program highlighting the achievements and contributions of women in society last March 4, 2024.
The parade was led by members of the MinSU Brass Band together with university officials, faculty, staff, and students. They marched along the vicinity of the university spreading awareness and unity for gender equality and women's rights.
Following the parade, a short program was held at the university's administration building, wherein Ms. Christine Luzon-German, Women Gender and Development (WGAD) Director explained the briefer of this year’s national women’s month celebration with the theme “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Husay ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan!”
Dr. Christian Anthony C. Agutaya, OIC-University President delivered an inspiring keynote address highlighting the importance of recognizing and uplifting women in society. He said that MinSU is one in promoting rights, equal representation, and fair opportunities for women. He also encouraged all women to celebrate every success, recognize equal rights, and be proud of women’s abilities.
“Please continue to feel powerful and embrace your womanhood because it is something quite distinct. It is something women all own, and I believe women should be proud of it,” Dr. Agutaya inspiringly said.
He also urged them to have the courage to speak up especially those who are victims of domestic violence and discrimination and never forget their value as a woman.
“Stay strong, always know your worth as a woman because you should get the kind of respect and love you deserve. Continue to inspire the children, and the people around you and keep the passion alive,” added Dr. Agutaya as he ended his message.
The highlight of the program was a video presentation that showcased the women faculty and staff who play integral roles and work tirelessly to ensure the smooth operation of various services and programs at the university.
The event concluded with an announcement of WGAD activities lined up for its month-long celebration.
The kick-off celebration of 2024 National Women’s Month was simultaneously done on three campuses of MinSU.
