To highlight the celebration, a parade and a seminar were held. The opening ceremony started at 7:30 up to 9:30 in the morning at Crispin E. Cabanilla Memorial Hall.
Atty. Ralph A. Roxas, the resource speaker of the event, gave an informative speech for everyone who are aiming to contribute to the attainment of VAW-free community. He emphasized the human rights of women and their commitment to address all forms of violence against women.
Meanwhile, the awarding of certificates and prizes were also given to the winners of VAW paintings participated by each college department.
In the afternoon, the most awaited Ms. MinSCAT Queen pageant for the LGBTQ community was also held and was participated by five chosen students of MinSCAT. Justin Airon Samson Parel, an AB English first year student, was crowned as the MinSCAT Queen 2019.
The said celebration aimed to promote awareness on the forms of violence against women and provide information on laws protecting women. WGAD Unit also featured VAW-related services that people can avail of and access.
Through the activities, WGAD was able to solicit strong public support for the campaign.
