MinSU, NAP hold Workshop on the Formulation of the MinSU Records Disposition Schedule

Mindoro State University (MinSU) successfully conducted a Workshop on the Formulation of the MinSU Records Disposition Schedule in collaboration with the National Archives of the Philippines (NAP) at the Audio-Visual Room, MinSU Calapan Campus, June 13, 2024.

The said workshop was to equip MinSU personnel with knowledge and skills to properly handle, organize, and dispose of records in compliance with national standards. The initiative is part of MinSU's ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards in record-keeping and institutional management.

Mr. Larry O. Pardilla, Senior Records Management Analyst and Mr. Gerald I. De Guzman, Records Management Analyst I from NAP served as resource persons throughout the workshop. They shared their expertise and provided valuable insights into best practices for records management. They also explained the protocols and procedures necessary for an effective disposition of records.

In his message, Dr. Christian Anthony C. Agutaya, OIC-University President of MinSU, emphasized the importance of proper records management in upholding the integrity and efficiency of the university's operations. "Effective records management is vital for our institution's accountability and transparency. This workshop, in collaboration with NAP, is a significant step towards enhancing our capacity to manage and preserve our records according to the national standards," he said.

The workshop covered various aspects of records management, including the classification of records, retention periods, and disposal methods. Interactive sessions and practical exercises allowed participants to engage directly with the material and apply the concepts learned.

Atty. Sherlyn A. Layesa, Atty. IV and Data Privacy Officer highlighted the workshop’s importance and relevance to her job as well as to the university as a whole. “This is essential knowledge that all personnel should be equipped with. As a new office in MinSU, this workshop has been a significant help to me in handling documents according to standards, especially since I manage confidential information and documents. Additionally, the seminar provided us with a clear framework for managing our records, ensuring unified knowledge and coordination in record management and disposition,” she stated.

As MinSU continues to grow and expand its academic and administrative capabilities, such initiatives ensure that the university complies with effective records management practices according to national standards. The successful conclusion of the workshop marks a significant milestone for MinSU in its efforts to enhance institutional efficiency and accountability through improved records management.
